Planning permission was acquired for the conversion of a former granary and milking parlour building into two residential units. The buildings occupy a rural site set in the open countryside on the outskirts of Diss, Norfolk.
Although not listed, the building is of historic merit and the conversion works represent sensitive alterations, allowing the original form and historic integrity of the building to be preserved and enhanced. Generous roof terraces are a feature, providing elevated outdoor space connected directly with first floor living areas.
As with many conversions of this scale and buildings of this age, structural stability was a key issue, with Durrants completing a detailed structural assessment to demonstrate the works could be undertaken without compromising the building's structural integrity.
